I have noticed that the things that puzzle me ( a comparative newby ) and the things that puzzle other people (maybe newby's ) seem to be the same, looking at the number of people viewing these items. Is it possible to view a list of newby problems that pop up regularly. maybe there is one and I have not seen it?

I think the approach to this forum is that people try a search and then when they can't find their answer - they ask.

The reason a list never works is that people approach Elements from different directions.

Some are into scrapbooking as their entry way.

Some start by photo fixing - straightening or fixing color or shadows

Some want to jump right in with photo manipulation. (It seems the thing a newbie photo manipulator wants to try first off is selecting someone or something and either removing it or moving it to another photo.)

The only thing I recommend as the starting point, is a layers course - because without understanding layers - you will flounder and get frustrated.

Other than that - the -- jump right in and try - then do a search if you get stuck - then ask when you can't find your answer -- method works well on this forum.

It seems the kind people on this board never tire of answering the same questions. I don't know about anyone else, but I love helping people learn how cool Elements is - alas, I'm becoming a dinosaur - I use PSE4 - and so many newbies have PSE 6 now.

Janice, Thanks for reply, point taken. It was just when I looked at a question and thought, yes, thats been a sticking point with me and then I look and see how many other people are looking at that post and I realise--it's not just me that has not grasped that particular point - but quite a lot of people as well. I did not deal with computers at work so came to such things later so all this is magic to me, I cannot believe the things that I can do with Elements, it's a whole new world and may I live many years into it!

Hi Aud

A FAQ inclusion or non inclusion seems to pop up every now and again. Both points of view have their merit.
I'm of the inclusion mindset but I do understand that this "tends" to lead to a lot of non personal replies... you know "READ THE FAQ" type of replies.
I tend to like the friendlier approach so I don't mind things how they are.:)
