Ok...I am new to PSE6....I have 5700+ fonts and they all loaded in PSE. It takes forever for the type tool to load before it lets me type. It drives me nuts and takes up SO much time while I am editing things. I know I cant take off the already installed windows fonts so my question is....How do I take out all the fonts I dont want to use? I dont want them deleted. I just dont want them in PSE untill I need them. Any kind of feed back would be awesome, specially for a very new beginner. THANKS...S.

Hi Shawna,
You have a LOT of fonts. I don't know of a way you can prevent Elements from loading all the fonts you have installed in Windows. You may need to delete some of them. There are online articles about which fonts not to delete and font viewers and/or managers available for dowload. Also, which fonts you must keep may depend on which Windows version you are using. Also, I'm assuming you have Windows, if you have a Mac, someone else may have to advise you.

You can uninstall fonts from your system just by dragging them out of the folder to wherever you want to keep them. Then you can go back and load them if you want to use any particular one for a project. (I keep mine in a folder 'Uninstalled fonts' with my digiscrapping supplies). However, be very very careful not to uninstall system fonts.

And with Elements - you can use an uninstalled font without installing it by opening the font file prior to opening Elements.
To avoid problems when next you open a project using one of the temporary fonts, simplify your text layer prior to closing your project.
