Yesterday I encountered a strange problem. I downloaded and installed the trial of PSE6 without removing PSE4. LR recognized the new version and when I went to take an image to external editing, PSE6 was the option listed in the Photo dropdown - "Edit in Photoshop Elements 6". I found I was having some other problems which prompted me to then uninstall PSE6. Now, LR does not have the option to "Edit in Photoshop Elements 4" in the dropdown menu. I went to Preferences>External Editing and it indicates PSE4 is not found! I can add PSE4 under "Additional External Editor". But then I only have one external editor choice - the main one stays grayed out in the dropdown menu. Any ideas?

Julie....

I believe what's happened is your Registry entry for Elements has been removed when you uninstalled Elements 6.

Take a look at this app note from Adobe. It means editing the Registry and it's always advisable to back this up first.

Thank you, Colin. That sounds right.

After I sort out the problem which caused me to uninstall the trial version of PSE 6, I will reinstall and see if that fixes up the registry. If it doesn't work, I'll consider the registry solution.

I really appreciate your help...
