I have a brush set I'm working with along with the png images of what is included in the brush set. I'm wondering what the difference is between the 2. I get the diff between the basic idea of a brush and a png image, but is there a benefit of one over the other? Image quality difference? Any insight/recs from the wise ones would be appreciated. TIA!

Hi Michele ..
Sometimes when people make brushes they also include a png file of the brush image ... that means that people who are using other Graphics Programs can use the png file to create a brush in their own progam (as the photoshop one wont work for them)
So the png files are generally not needed if you are using Photoshop or Elements ...

I used the ABR viewer available for free download at www.easyelements.com (http://www.easyelements.com) to create .png files of all my brushes. I think categorized them by type (flowers, grunge, shapes, etc.) so when I want a brush, I look at the library of .png files instead of squinting at the thumbnails inside of Elements.

Thank you to both of you. I think I get the idea now. I was also thinking, as I get into this more, then brushes are at my quick call, whereas the png files I would have to go and find in my files and import etc. So it's much quicker to use the brushes. Thank you for the guidance.
You've already answered my next question! I have all these great brushes I have downloaded but can't stand trying to figure out what each set contains. It's a pain. I need to see them in front of me all together.
Thx for the tip! I'm going to play with this today and see how far I get.
Thx again!

Hi Michele ...
You really don't need the png files at all ... they are only there in case the brush set doesn't work in your software.
If they didn't then you would just open the png file and use it to create a brush :)
