I can't find a thing about how to import photos into PE6. Supposing I have 10 pictures at the highest resolution on a memory stick, they are jpegs, and extremly large. So now they are in PE6 and I'd like to work on them, but not in the jpeg file format. The distination of these pictures is a dvd disc & some to a photo album.
Can someone help or tell me what book to buy? Thanks

What format are you thinking of and why not editing jpegs?

Once you have opened the file in PSE then you can save the file using Save as in various formats. Not sure if this is what you are trying to accomplished.

jpegs are for your final edit. anyways let me run this by you. Bring the picture in, save as a .psd, now you have 2 pictures, work on the .psd, save it, now you have 3 pictures, etc. You could do this 10 times before your finished. Now what. Flatten it back to jpeg, or leave it in .psd? Can you print a .psd? Can you put a .psd on a dvd? Remember this is still a very large picture. Should I leave it big or reduce the size? What size?

Are you using a Mac or PC? If you're on a PC, click the Organizer tab (should be blue) to import your photos.

If you're on a Mac, you can import photos to your hard drive by using the Bridge application that came with Elements, or you can just choose File > Open and then navigate to the pen drive.

Read the answer I left for billd2 maybe this shed some light on the subject. Do you know of any good books I might read about this subject?

I can get the photos in Ok, but then what? I left a reply with billd2 which should help. I've worked with photos before, but website related and the object there is to make the file as small as possible, now the object is different.

I don't see why you have to save every edit as a separate file. I work on a photo, save as a .psd, that's 1 file (plus the original .jpg), then I work on the .psd some more, and save it again, that's still 1 file (plus the original .jpg).

You can print a .psd. You can put a .psd (or any other file) on a DVD. If you think it is too big, then you can certainly reduce the size. The decision is yours. But it also depends upon the reason why you want the file on a DVD anyway, and you didn't tell us. (If you want to send the photo to your grandparents on a DVD, and they don't have some version of Photoshop, then a .psd probably won't work.)
