Common issues - text size/text color/text layer covered up by a larger layer above it

while you are on the text layer - choose
layer> arrange> bring to front

If you still can't see it -

check font color -
is it the same color as my background?

check text size -
is the text size too small to see?

Can you post a screenshot of your work space and layers palette?

But for right now, go to your layers palette and turn off every layer except your text layer.

To turn off layers, look to the layers palette and on the left edge of each layer you will see an eyeball icon. Click on that and the layer will shut off.

Leave only your text layer turned on.

What do you see?

On that layer that has all those letters on it -

control double click on the thumbnail - and change the text color to red
and to 72 points.

oops sorry

Just double click on the thumbnail - which will highlight the entire text layer

then choose red as the color and 72 as the text size.

Turn off all layers except the one with all the letters.

And change the font to another font - like the standard TIMES ROMAN

What do you see?

Maybe you have a corrupted font file.

Have you tried using another font?

Before doing any more experimenting, try resetting the text tool

I got this info off another thread

Select the text tool, then at the top left-hand part of the edit screen there is an captial T. Click on it and a small box will appear giving you the opportunity to reset your tool or tools.

If the text tool reset doesn't work - then you are doing something wrong.

It is not normal to have to save a file when we add text.

Whenever we get ourselves into a glitch like this - it seems impossible to fix - but it's just a matter of figuring out what we're doing wrong.

I know the frustration of learning this program. It's not intuitive like so many of the other programs. The Elements learning curve is a doozy.

Don't give up

So did the text tool reset work? Is that what solved your problem?

One thing you will find out about Elements is that sometimes it just glitches for no earthly reason.
