Help on Importing Raw files please.

I'm using PSE6 and Vista. When I try to import raw files from my Canon CF card into the organizer I get a message saying, '' Nothing was imported. The file selected did not contain any supported file types or the files are already in the catalog". I have no catalogs so that is out. The files are not corrupt either as I can load a raw file into the editor and work on it in camera raw 4.2. I also tried converting one of the raw files to a tiff and importing it into the organizer and it loaded just fine. The problem is with raw files. Am I missing something? As I recall I could load raw files into the organizer in elements V5 with no problem. Thanks, Steve

May not fix the issue but the web site recently released updates for PSE and the main update pertains to RAW files. Hope it can help ya

I took a look and all I could find was the latest adobe raw program. I'm not having trouble opening the files in adobe raw. It's when I bring the raw files into the organizer. I was able to load then into the organizer by going from the organizer screen and choosing file/get photos and videos/from files and folders but after I get them loaded into the organizer is when the trouble starts. Soon after I load them into the organizer and I want to magnify them to see them larger with the slide control the photos won't focus at all. They look very blurry and pixelated. JPEG and tiff files will look blury at first when magnified in the organizer but in a couple of secoonds it will focus and a clear picture is there. In time I can't do much of anything with the raw files while in the organizer and finally the whole program gives up the ship and locks up. Then reboot computer. Guess I have to give up using the organizer for raw files. JPEG PSD and tiff's work fine from there. Had to stop the downloader from opening up when I install the camera chip into the slot too. Oh well plenty other methods to skin the cat. Just enjoyed using the organizer in PSE5. Had no trouble with that one.
Anybody running PSE5 with vista? If it is running maybe I'll just dump PSE6 and go back to old faithful. Thanks for the response jag3226 Steve

Well here's what I found out. If I only download 5 raw files at a time all is well. They download fine. If I try to download 10 files at a time the program chokes and stops working. Elements6 can't handel these large files if I try loading too many raw files into the organizer at once. Oh well at least I found out to get them in there anyway. Just have to be a little patient I guess and do a few at a time using windows explore to get 'em in there a few at a time. Shouldn't be that way though. didn't have that prob with PSE5. Steve
