For those who know me, I usually not talk about paying software (unless asked for). This time, I make an exception.
I have found this little software (10 U$, free to try) to help selecting the right colour combination. Color Designer 2 there :
http://macosx.narcissisme.dk/
How it works : You check Lock Wheel to a Rule, and then pick a rule (pick Split Complementary for a start, it's a good choice to make nice colour combinations). Then, adjust the angle to change the colours (all 3 branches will move together).
At the bottom of the screen, you'll find Saturation and Brightness control to change all the colours at the same time, but if you want to, you can also adjust each colour independantly.
The beauty of all this resides in the interactive colour chips in the Colour Preview Screen.
Finally, you're no limited to 3 colours. In the Preview screen, click on drop down list at the far right and select more (or less) colours.
Have fun !
