PSE5 freezes!!

All of a sudden, I am having problems with PSE5. I can open it fine but when I try to open a blank canvas, it freezes. If I let it sit for 5 minutes or so. I can't open any photos or scrap stuff...it just completely locks up. The only thing that I have done recently is install Lightroom. I deleted both programs and re-installed PSE5 but I'm still having the same problems. I don't think it's a memory issue, but I'm not sure where to check that or what exactly I should be looking for? Any suggestions?

Suggestion:

When you go to start the editor hold down CTL-ALT-Shift at the same time if you get a popup asking to reset the preferences (or something to that effect) pick yes.

I tried that already. It didn't help. :(
