This video was on the site Sept 4 2007 by R C Concepcion.
In the second half of the video he merges the Hue/ Sat adjustment layer with the Black and White duplicate layer that he made.
Is there an advantage of doing this merging vs just erasing/painting on the layer mask?
Thanks for any insight you may have.

Paul,
Unfortunately I have not seen that video. Without further description as to workflow and desired goal, I can only speculate. What was the name of this video and where was it located?
1. A major advantage to merging layers is reducing file size and making subsequent editing workflow easier. Was this a multi layer document with which he was working?
2. Adjustment Layers apply to all visible layers beneath them. So, maybe he wanted the Hue/Saturation to apply only to the B&W duplicate that you mentioned.
Just guesses for now.............

Hi Paul ..
I can't see any advantage to doing it this way ... in fact I think that painting on the mask is better than merging & then erasing.
If you make a mistake and you are using the mask then you can simply change your colour to white and paint it back in . ... erasing is not so forgiving as a mask :)
