I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS AN EASIER WAY TO PUT TEXT INSIDE A ROUND "BAND" or "RING", SUCH AS IN A LOGO.
I PRESENTLY DO IT BY TYPING THE TEXT AT THE BOTTOM OF A NEW FILE or CANVAS AND GO TO THE FILTER MENU AND SELECT THE POLAR COORDINATES FROM DISTORT. THEN I MAKE SURE THE RECTANGULAR TO POLAR IS CHECKED AND HIT OK. I USUALLY NEED TO SCALE THE TEXT AND ENLARGE IT TO GET THE DESIRED SIZE I WANT. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THE TEXT SEEMS TO APPEAR SOMEWHAT SPHERICAL. IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO DO THIS? THANKS.

Steve,

Hello & welcome to the forum,

Type your text then go to Warp Text - it's in the top toolbar - a T with a semicircular line underneath. Then you can choose to warp in different ways - if you choose arch you can mess around with the settings until it fits around a ring shape.

Text in a Circle
1. Place text spread out on 2 separate layers
2. Layer 1:Apply warped text tool, arc=100%
3. Layer 2: Do same
4. Rotate lower layer 180 degrees
5. Use move tool to line them up and refine arc.

Ken, thanks for this information. I didn't know I wanted to know how to do this, but that is often the case. I find answers to questions I didn't know I had.

Polar coordinates filter is still a good way to do it. When I use this option I make sure the text I want to make into a circle goes all the way across the width of my screen, change the height of the text before you run the filter:
- Ctrl+T to transform
- uncheck constrain proportions
- change the height - around 250 to 300 but you might need to play with this to get it too look right depending on your font.

Hi Steve

I would bet the link and subsequent download that elwoodsusan provided will work just fine. Providnig the download is a set of paths.

We had this discussion a while ago and it seems that Elements recognizes paths but just can not create them. Once you have one though you can change the size and shepe with the free transform tool.:)

Like Gary said - a psd file with text on a path can be resized and edited in PSE - it just can't be created. Here's text in a circle - jiust unzip and open the psd file in Elements.
