I have successfully created a slide show with sound and, except for a one AVI file, that jams, and stops the whole show, it runs beautifully.

My slide show has 3 AVI files, which I have managed to incorporate into the body of the slide show that contains about 30 jpg images; after some problems with setting the duration, so they would play all the way through.

Now, while running the slide show in full screen mode, the first AVI file in the presentation starts to play; then, after a few seconds, stops and closes full screen mode. There is even a moment when a slide that isn't even in the slide show appears; briefly.

If I click on the full screen icon the show will start again and the troublesome AVI file will usually go on the play all the way through.

From their the other two AVI file, when they come up in the sequence, play without a hitch.

I've reloaded the AVI file in question but it didn't help.

Oddly this file has only just started to behave this way. I must have done something t cause this, but I don't know what?

Michael,

Here are some thoughts:
1. Could be a problem in the writing of the wmv file due to any one of the following:
a. Corrupt video file
b. The file format of your videos. Are they all the same? If AVI, what kind (DV AVI, AVI MPEG4, AVI Motion JPEG, etc.)? You mention 30 jpegs images, but how many minutes is each of the 3 videos?
c. Your system resources stressed out during the writing of the wmv. Did you downsize your stills prior to their use in the slideshow (did pixels dimensions for each exceed 1000 x 750 pixels)?
d. What profile (file size) are you setting before you output via Save to File (Movie, wmv)?

2. Where are you viewing this, Windows Media Player or in the Monitor of Photoshop Elements 6? If Windows Media Player, have you tried viewing this slideshow on another computer?

3. Matter can not be created nor destroyed. So, if you see an image in your slideshow, you would have had to put it there. This may be a clue as to cause and effect.

These are my recommendations:
1. Verify that, if you remove this specific video, your slideshow playback is OK as 30 jpegs + 2 videos. In other words, determine if, for some unknown reason, your wmv is only able to process a 30 image + 2 video slideshow not 30 image + 3 video slideshow...AND it does not matter which specific 2 videos it is.

2. If you think that you have a corrupt video and there is no way to download a fresh copy from your camcorder, then you may want to explore taking the video into Windows Movie Maker and outputting it as a DV AVI, followed by the use of this DV AVI in your slideshow. Details can be supplied for that if necessary.
3. I have assumed that the problem that you are having is occurring when you view your wmv slideshow with Windows Media Player. If so, did you not see this problem in the Photoshop Elements 6 Monitor during the Preview there?
4. Review your system resources to rule out that system stresses are not causing these problems that you have been experiencing.

Take some time to step back from the issue, think about the steps that you followed to get to the point where you are, and then attacked the problem again refreshed.

I will be watching for your progress.

Thanks for all your comments. I will consider them, one by one; the ones I understand anyway. This will take some time...;)

Briefly, the AVI files were all created with the same camera and play normally outside the slide show. They are all about a minute long.

I have not reduced the size of the images in my slide show; something I clearly need to do; as this may be a resource issue.

Most of the images display for 3-15 sec, some a little longer.

All the other AVI files, that come after the one I have trouble with, play normally.

I don't know what I can tell you about the type of AVI file. Properies shows "Audio format PCM" They were taken with a "Camera" not a "Video camera".
