Hello i have purcased Adobe Premier elemnts and everything seems fine exept i cant transfer mpeg2 from my capture device which is the ati all in wonder 8500dv, this graphics card has a virtual vcr in it that has many capture pre-sets, i have tried avi,and wmv thease work but i am trying to work with the best quality to make dvds or am i missing the point?

I no that im beeing awkward but i just want to tidy up some old analogue video .children,holidays, a wedding, etc, at the moment the old handrolc system seems very good, but i have the pc monster now so i am trying to make it work hope someone can help lead me by the nose through this.

Hi,

Analogue video by it's nature is going to be of lesser quality than digital, just becuase its analogue.

By capturing it you should not see any down grade of quality as you are going to digital format.

I suggest AVI format then you can do some color correction and what not in PRE and burn to a DVD, to prevent any further quality loss.
Just curious, but what format are you coming from? VCR tape, Hi8 or?

Perhaps I can walk you thru another way of capturing it if I know what format you are working with.

Thank you for your reply i am very greatefull for your help,

I can capture analogue from VCR tape as composite VHS,

I would be interested to hear of any way of placeing the captured media in to Premier Elements, thank you for your time to help me get started.
