This is the tut for using 2020 to make seamless tiles and papers.

Making A Seamless Tile And Paper With 2020

When you open 2020 all you see is this.

If you click on the button indicated by the red arrow you will be able to pick the image (jpg) you wish to tile.
When you open your image you will see this

http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/12EpgCwsn8Ufb5oiaOWhUuhTlO2N0_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=12EpgCwsn8Ufb5oiaOWhUuhTlO2N0)

The arrow is pointing at Image. Clicking here allows you to Resize, I like to resize my images to 3 inches on the longest side but it is up to you.
Click on Image - Seamless tile.
You have created your tile. Go to File - Save As, save as a JPG.

Now you have to create the paper
This is very easy.
Open Elements, find your tile and open it.
Go to Edit - Define Pattern. Click OK.
You can now close the image we don’t need it any more.
Control N to open a new page. I normally use 10 x 8 inches at 72 resolution. This tends to make the pattern larger. However the choice is yours. When your page is open, Control+A to select all.
Go to Edit - Fill Selection. Select Pattern and the last one should be your tile. Click OK and the page will fill with your tile.
You have made a background paper. Now you can save it as a JPG, you can resize it or do with it what you will.
I would suggest that you start with simple images at first and get more daring after a little practise.
The end results can be very beautiful.
Have fun.
Kev.

Judy,
Looks good, I don't know what size your tile was but I think that a smaller tile would be better. Show more fish and bubbles. Try it, if your not happy with the way it looks, change the background layer to a regular layer then using Control T you can stretch it out.

Thank you Kev I have got it installed now .
In your tut you say " I normally use 10x8 @ 72ppi ".
Why are you using 72ppi ,I thought we had to have a background paper of 300res when making a Montage or Scrapping ?
Thanks Storm

Storm,
I use 72 because it tends to make the pattern larger.
I then resize it to 300 using Irfan View.
That is my preference but you must make your own decision.

Kev some things have a dark grey background. How do you get rid of this? Sometimes using the 'fill' with white works but not every time? I have Vista so the HELP is not available!

Sue,
I'm a little puzzled what you mean by things.
Do you mean your photos or something in the program?
Kev.

If I open a scrapbooking item i.e. a button or a bow the surrounding area and background show as dark grey.

Susan,
I think the ones you are opening are PNG files and I have not tried that.
If I have a png file I always open it in elements. Then open a new layer below it, fill this layer with a colour. Save as a JPG then run it through 2020.

This would make a good background paper for scrapbooking. Used a brush by Ronna Penner's Page Sets:)
