I know this or a similar issue has been addressed regarding PSE 3. I have just upgraded to PSE 4 and cannot update my creations or check for services. I get an error that states "There is a problem with your internet connection......" I can however get Adobe Updater to check successfully for updates. When I try and choose a location in the same preference panel I get an error that says "No preferences service found." I also get shutout when I try and "Update Creations".

I am using PSE 4 .... I have uninstalled PSE3.
I have XP SP2 with all firewalls shutoff.
I have even set my router to send my computer through the DMZ to no success.
I am at home and not behind a proxy server.
My proxy server settings are not enabled.
I am using SpyBot but will uninstall it next to see if it helps.

I am at a loss.

I do sometimes have difficulty connecting with Adobe's website. Sometimes I just can't connect with them not matter how many times I try but am successful ten minutes later with not changes made.

Can any one Help Me?

Thanks,

CA Rambo

I have the same problem. When I try to update, I get the message:
"No connection. Please check your internet settings and/or firewall. Waiting for connection..."

This is absurd because I am online at the time and everything else on my computer has no trouble making a connection. I even tried disabling the firewall, but that made no difference.

Anyone have any advice?

Some people have had trouble with IE-7 Beta .If thats not the case see if it's on your blocked list. To do this go to tools/internet options/privacy/ sites/. Left click on sites button. A list will open and scroll through the list and make sure adobe is not on that list. Hope this helps.I do not have to turn anything off to do updates.

That might be it. I'm using IE-7 Beta 3; but I did try making Firefox the default browser and that seemed to make no difference.

Any suggestions if the problem is IE-7 and Firefox won't work for this?

I have the same problem (and frustration). I had no problem with Elements 2.0 but 4.0 will not let me update.

Would a reinstall help the problem?

:)

Finally: SUCCESS! I deleted IE-7 Beta 3 (It would always crash anyhow.) Now my Adobe Updater works. Firefox was not the problem IE-7 was. I had installed it several weeks before purchasing Elements 4.0.

Thanks for all the above suggestions.

This package targets the home user in that the software is extremely easy to use thanks to its innovative user-interface which will allow even the most novice of users to improve their photos and create flair to their movies. In its essence, Photoshop Elements and Premier Elements could be considered Photoshop "light" and Premier "light", still keeping the powerful aspects of these programs but allowing the inexperienced end-user easy access. Whether you're fixing up redeye, fuzzy photos or creating slideshows, this program almost has it all. Movies? Well... that's another Premier Elements 4 which it does remarkable!
