Hi..
First question to the forum, but probably not the last.
Maybe nothing to worry about, but I would like your comments on this one:

Original tiff-file is copied several times, and renamed:
1_Original
2_PSE2_Editor
3_PSE3_Editor
4_PSE3_FileBrowser
----------------------------------
File 2 is opened in PSE2:
File > File Info > Entering text in Caption field > Save
----------------------------------
File 3 is opened in PSE3 Editor:
Ctrl+Alt+1 > Entering text in Description field > Ok > Untick "Include in the Organiser" > Save (as)
----------------------------------
File 4 is highlighted in PSE3 File Browser:
Ctrl+Alt+1 > Entering text in Description field > Ok
----------------------------------
(The same text was entered for every picture)
----------------------------------
When viewing size of files in Windows Explorer:
21.327kb = 1_Original
21.328kb = 2_PSE2_Editor
21.312kb = 3_PSE3_Editor
21.329kb = 4_PSE3_FileBrowser

Although this is not a forum for Cerious software I should mention:
21.332kb = 5_ThumbsPlus7

I do not know how ITPC data works, but I'm not really keen on my graphic files being made smaller after adding data.
Especially I do not understand that PSE3_Editor, and PSE3_File Browser don't show the same results in kb.
(Again - same text was entered for every picture)

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello Klaus and welcome to the Forums,

Do both PSE (2 and 3) have similar colour management settings? I am on a Mac, so I can't replicate what you're seeing. Just a thought.

Hello Ray

Many thanks for the welcome.

I think you hit it right on the dot.

Have been playing around with PSE2 and 3, caption, no caption, profile and no profile.
Will post a reply later.

I thought that in one, you could be saving profiling information and not in the other.

If not, well... let's hope some Windows capable user picks this up :)

Ray

You were right.

To me it looked like PSE3 Editor and File Browser didn't work the same way, but it was all down to the profile.
PSE 2 may work a little different as this shows

Same picture every time:

01_PSE2_no caption_no profile.tif-----------------------------21.317 KB
02_PSE2_Editor_caption_no profile.tif------------------------21.318 KB
03_PSE2_Editor_caption_profile Nikon sRGB.tif------------21.327 KB
04_PSE2_Editor_caption_profile Adobe RGB.tif------------21.320 KB

05_PSE3_Editor_no caption_no profile.tif------------------21.312 KB
06_PSE3_Editor_caption_no profile.tif-----------------------21.312 KB
07_PSE3_Editor_caption_profile Nikon sRGB.tif-----------21.320 KB
08_PSE3_Editor_caption_profile Adobe RGB.tif-----------21.313 KB

09_PSE3_File Browser_no caption_no profile.tif-----------21.312 KB
10_PSE3_File Browser_caption_no profile.tif---------------21.312 KB
11_PSE3_File Browser_caption_profile Nikon sRGB.tif---21.320 KB
12_PSE3_File Browser_caption_profile Adobe RGB.tif---21.313 KB

Thanks for clearing things up for me - I have been giving it quite some thoughts over the past days, before deciding to ask the forum.

Now I can move on to my next question.
