Adorama has the 4gig Ultra III on sale with a rebate give back. After the rebate the price is 19 bucks. I thought you all should be aware of this.

And it seems to work great in the Nikon D80, this was mentioned on the Nikonian site.

That seems like a good price! Free shipping, too, if you can wait 7-10 days for it.

I wish they had the same deal on CF cards:(

Pam, Both San Disk and Lexar are leaders in Memory cards. You can't go wrong with either of them. The San disk 4GB Extreme III SD card at final price of $19.99 is a steal. I see that on the original link the CF's cards differ in rebate amount but you still can get them at a great price.

I agree with Edmund. SanDisk and Lexar are the two name brands that I recommend. I, personally use the Lexar 8gb 300X CF cards. While the speed doesn't affect my camera, it certainly speeds up the download time and I need that since I am a shooting fool.
My advice is to buy the biggest and fastest cards you can afford.
$20.00 for a 4gb Extreme III card is a screaming deal!

FYI, I bought my husband an Ultra III card for Christmas and it just refused to work.
::sigh::
After some research, I found out that the memory card was newer than his camera (a D50)! Dad-gum-it :)
Lesson learned: Some newer, faster cards won't work in older cameras. Don't make the same mistake I did--be sure it works in your camera before you buy it.

Excellent advice Lesa! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you will save someone else from making the same mistake. It's not always easy to find out what size cards are compatible with which cameras...you may have to dig.

Brilliant!
I've got it: If he agrees to get me a 5D, I'll get him a D300.
That'll fly like a lead balloon :)

Lesa,
If the card doesn't work, can you still use it in other cameras?
If not I can take it off your hands, I am not too far away from you and I can pay you what you spent on it. As long as the card is an SD Card I found out it will work for my D80. If its a compact flash card, I'm sorry I have nothing that will use it.
There is a page over on the Secure Ditigal Site (SD) that has a search engine that you can find what cards will go with what cameras.

At the time, we had no other cameras it would work with.

Thanks but that was a couple of Christmas' ago - it's been sent back.

I got my three 4GB's HC cards yesterday (Friday) from Adorama. That was some fast shipping, I ordered it on late Tuesday Night. I sent in the San Disk rebate form for a $110 Visa card Yesterday. Let's hope they come thru.

The Sandisk III is nice and a very good card -I have one myself, but I rather use the Sandisk Extreme IV. It almost like driving a 2007 car or a 2008 car. I rather use newer. I also have had problems getting my rebate check from Sandisk -$25.00 on a III. They forgot about it or something like that was the reply I got. The rebate check finally came like a postcard, no envelope, all beat up with rough edges.:rolleyes:

I am seriously thinking of getting the Canon XSi sometime after it is released next month. It will take the SDHC card. After looking at the Adorama.com website and at Amazon.com I have some questions after reading what Tony wrote above.
What is the difference between the Ultra II and the Extreme III cards made by Sandisk? Tony makes it sound like the III is an older card?
I have a card reader that will read the SD cards, but I am thinking it probably will not read the SDHC card. I found at amazon I could buy an 8GB card with an included card reader;
Ultra II for $59.99 and the Extreme III for $71.73
I did not see the Extreme IV mentioned by Tony at either site.

Charles, funny you should post on this topic tonight. A couple weeks ago, I bought an 8 GB SDHC card (off-brand: PQi or something like that) because it was a tough price to beat - $35! Put it in my G9 this weekend and it seems to work fine.
HOWEVER....when I put it in my SD card reader and plugged it into my laptop it was 'no go'. Went to Fry's, where I bought the card, and asked them about readers for SD HC card - they were clueless. Bought a newer reader (although it didn't mention SD HC, only SD) - same problem. Now waiting for a reader bought online from B&H that's advertised as SD/SDHC. Hopefully, that will do the trick. In the meantime, I can go directly from the camera to my computer, but that's not my preferred route.
Ah, technology.....:rolleyes:

How right you are Chuck! That is why I doubted my old card reader would not read the new SDHC card. You confirmed that much for me! Sorry you have to wait on your new card reader to get to you.

Chuck, I had same/similar problems and had to update my drivers for the san disk reader from their web site. This cleared up all future down loading problems.

Eddie, thanks for that tip! I'll see if my new reader - another off-brand, I'm sure - even has a website....:o
