I use a Mac and iPhoto to organize my photo library. I am starting to shoot in RAW and would like to understand some examples of workflow. I need to start a new learning curve.

I use bridge to browse my card reader, acr starts up automatically when image is opened from bridge. After processing I then use save as to save the photo to a file on my desktop which I have imaginately named to iphoto. Periodically I go into iphoto and use the file import function to bring the processed pics into iphoto, then empty the desktop file.

Hi RonH,

The RAW is a kinda "digital negative" file. You need to manage (catalog) them, then you have to process them in to viewable/printable file formats (JPG, Tiff). The wonderful thing in RAW is flexibility in processing. So you need proper processing software. You can do all of these things in Photoshop Elements. But I feel Adobe Lightroom or Apple Aperture is MUCH MORE suitable for this, especially in multiple files processing. These two do the cataloging as well.

I use Lightroom to manage (catalog) and process RAW files and Photoshop elements for advanced editing.
The PSE can manage files as well (i think even better then lightroom), so you can leave with out lightroom. But PSE is not really good RAW converter because of not supporting adjustment setting to share between different files )with similar content) and because of limited adjustment settings.
