Could use some help with the Free Transform tool. I had been trying to due the "Cube" from Scotts book, and was doing okay at first. Then when I used the history pallete to back up and retry one side of the cube, because it wasn't lining up prefectly I have now run into the problem the the Free Transform will not be the same size the the selected image. It's always larger and I cannot transform to the cube sides. I hope I'm explaining this okay.

Hi Dorrie ...

Not sure that I understand the problem but ...

But I tend to use Edit>Transform>Distort to line it up AND I have found that you have to do the distortion all at one go ... you can't do part of it, accept it and then try to do it again.

What I do is first use the move tool to make it about the right size then do Edit>Transform>Distort and move it one corner at a time until it is perfectly lined up and only then accept the transformation ...

Hope this helps :)

I'll try what you are saying, but it's funny that I was following the instructions in Scotts book on page 224 to....whatever, and the Transform tool was working just as he says in the book. I have even closed down PSE and restarted, but still everytime now that I execute the Transforms tool it goes beyond the outline of the image I'm trying to Transform. Prior to selecting the Transfrom tool the Move Toll was selected and it was lined up with the outline of the image exactly.

Any other suggestion is appreciated. I was doing good with this project until now.

Wendy,

Even going to Image>Transform>Free Transform, doesn't change how the transform tool is outside the outer preremeter of the image size.

When I did mine (cube), I found that after you commited the first "move/transform" the box was bigger if you tried to transform again.
Made it a little tougher the next time.

Hi Dorrie ...

What was the solution ??

Actually what I found was that my image, after making a selection and down sizing it, it was right next to the edge of the workspace, thus causing the transfrom tool to pick more than just the image. When I moved the selection into the middle of my workspace it worked just fine.

Another Simple Quirk in the world of computing. I hate giveing up on a problem.

Yes, I would like to know how you solved it because I had the same issue when doing my cubes -- and just left it alone as I couldn't manipulate them further.

Hopefully I'll be posting my results before long. I still have some additions that I want to try with it, but so far it doesn't look too bad.

Will,.... check out My solution above.

Solution noted and will be used the next cube project; I offered to do one for a person I work with because she has 3 kids -- so I thought it would be cool to do one for her. I'm just waiting for her to come up with the head-shots as they seem to work really well in the cube.
