Hi everyone,

I'm stumped. I have a map of the UK which is solid black on a white background. I would like to create an outline of it so i am left with just a thin line in the shape of the UK.

The problem is the map is very detailed and has a lot of inlets and islands (all of which are solid black)

any ideas?

thx all

If it's a plain image, as you describe:

Use the Magic Wand (or Quick Selection tool in V6) to select the black area
Create a new layer
Select Edit > Stroke and use a low value set to either Center or Inside
You can hide the original or create a solid layer beneath the outline

Why not just pick one up at the following sites. 1st site are all the countries, the 2nd link is UK
