Shadow...ARRRRRRRGGGGGG

Ok.. I have multiple layers. One is a nice background and then another which is a picture. I would like to make the picture look raised over the background using a shadow, the only problem is I want the shadow to go around the entire picture not just 2 of the sides. PLEASE save me form going insane!

to make a shadow all around your picture layer, duplicate the layer, on the bottom of the two picture layers make a selection around the picture (I usually use the magic wand tool and then inverse) then use edit , fill, with black. Then deselect, use filter gaussian blur about 30 or so. You should have your shadow all around. Sometimes I'll use free transform to nudge the sides abit to make a deeper shadow
