There's already a thread about the too-dark workspace. ECHO THAT on the options bar, the toolbox, menus, etc. NOT ENOUGH CONTRAST. Dark background wouldn't be so bad IF text, thumbnails, were a high-contrast white, but the gray on gray is a HUGE bust.....

I don't agree with this at all. I think the interface is excellent, because it doesn't detract from the image itself. And I don't have any difficulty seeing it. Perhaps a few more years down the road...

By all means provide an option to change the interface to taste, but I think reverting to a compulsory high contrast look would be a huge step backward for those of us whose vision/ambient lighting/monitor calibration are not causing a problem.

The other thing I wonder about in this debate is how people who can't distinguish the shades of grey used are managing to adjust exposure & contrast etc? (That's not meant unkindly, I just don't understand why the problem doesn't impinge on the wider issue of image perception.)

Hi ...

Well I totally agree with Val ...

My monitor is perfectly set and yet I find it such a strain to use the new interface .. this "new compulsory low contrast look" doesn't suit me at all, and from the number of queries I have replied to about changing it then I am certainly not in a minority.

Umm ... now I wonder why they didn't give Photoshop this "new look" :)

Hi Wendy,

I don't doubt people are having the problem, I just don't think reverting would be the right solution. A choice is.

As for why it's not in Photoshop, well it is in Lightroom. Or at least something very similar is. Look out for it in CS4, perhaps???:)

Edit: I'm tempted to say the issue isn't a clear cut black and white one ......it's more a question of shades of grey.......;)

Hate it or love it - obviously very subjective ;)

Personally I'm with Nick on this because when I played with the trial it was the only thing I liked. Not enough to bother upgrading though.

PSE 6 has the worst interface I've ever seen on ANY program! What idiot came up with dark gray arrows for drop down menus on a dark gray background! Virtually, everything is hard to see. Adobe should rewrite program to allow user to select their own colors.

The interface has grown on me; it has a more professional look than any version of PSE since 2.0. I have more trouble with the font size than the colors - but I could change the screen resolution to remedy that one.

I'm with Nick on this one. I was worried after reading all the posts damning it but I find I actually like the new interface and have no problems seeing at all.(And I wear glasses and am already a few years down the line!!:))
