I am having a problem converting RAW file images to JPG files. When I click on SAVE AS a number of file types are offered including JPEG 2000, TIFF and a number of others but no JPEG.
Can anyone tell what I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Peter

Peter,
Check to see that your image is 8-bit. I suspect you have a 16-bit image.

In the Elements editor, choose Image>Mode and click on 8 bits/channel.

Byran & Chuck,
Thank you both for your prompt replys.
That was the problem. When I first import the image there is an option called DEPTH in the lower right side and I was choosing 16 bits/channel.
I tried searching "converting RAW to JPG" before posting but kept getting a message saying there were not enough letters in RAW to do a search.
Great to know ther are knowledgable people using this forum.
Thanks again guys.

...not enough letters in RAW to do a search...Peter,
This constraint in the on-site search can be frustrating... but when you click the Search option, you should also see a box for a "Google Custom Search", which will work with short words, and only searches this site.
HERE (http://www.google.com/cse?cx=008172740160737524557%3Ahpddt5jr0v4&q=raw) is the result of searching for "raw" on this site.

Just throwing in a question...
recently I watched one of the episodes of the iTunes podcast Understanding Adobe Photoshop by Richard Harrington. The message that I picked up was that every time you open/edit/save a jpeg it is bad news for the jpeg quality-wise.
If so, would it be better to save to .tiff instead of .jpeg?
I have not run into this problem in what I have been doing, so I ask "do you all save to .tiff instead of .jpeg?

Theoretically that's true but the reality is that you really have to open/edit/save a jpeg a lot of times to have a noticeable effect - and the higher the jpeg quality you select the more you have to work at it to have any significant effect. In that I always have my RAW file as the digital negative to go back to (complete with the adjustments made in the RAW editor which haven't changed the original file) saving as a JPEG after editing isn't really an issue. If you really want to open/edit/save a lot of times while working on it in the Editor then saving as a psd in between times is probably the best option.
Here's a link of real world examples of quality degradation of multiple jpeg saves

Tiff or Psd, both non-lossy formats. Yes, when I anticipate further editing on a particular image, I will save in one of those formats. It is correct that every time a Jpeg file is opened, edited and re-saved there will be a slight deterioration due to the repeated re-compressions. Depending on the quality of the original image, it may take many times of of re-saving before you and I would notice any difference, though.

Tony and Juergen
Thanks for the insights into jpeg saving. Tony, that was a great link on the subject.
From now on I will pay more attention to this detail and be guided by your comments on dealing with the realities/necessities of the situation.
