Boy Dave's kids really get around!! I was worried that they would be mad at him for using them for the retouching lessons, but it seems like they get quite involved and look like they enjoy it!

Well I would have like to have watched it ... but it loaded for a while played for a few seconds then caught up with itself, stopped again ... whilst it carried on downloading again ... in the end I just had to give up. :( :(

:( I'm not sure what the problem would be Wendy.
It's a flash movie and should run fine for web viewing.

I had the same problem as Wendy. I don't think to the extent that she did, but it would drop out for a 5 or 10 seconds then pick back up.
The one on the Layers site was horrendous..I did stop watching that one.
I couldn't get them to play in Firefox. I tried the first one and it hung up, so I updated my flash player and then they wouldn't play at all. couldn't even get the play/pause button just a blank area on my screen.

Hi Guys,
I'll talk to the webteam in the morning and see if there is something going on.
Wendy mentioned she thought the whole site had been slow today and if it was then that could have something to do with the problems viewing things.
We can check the traffic and stuff so that will be a place to start.
Sorry everyone is having issues with things today :(
I'll repost after I talk to the guys :)

Tami ...
Maybe its quieter now ...
I just tried the Layers site video and it only stopped 4 times this time.
No cut Kelby on the other site stopped 3 times ... yesterday it was unwatchable due to the number of times it stopped.
NAPP site retro beach ... quicker than it was before. Intro is fine but the loading of the individual modules is painful and it is playing stop start stop start ... I still haven't viewed it all the way through its just too frustrating.
Even though some of the ones I looked at were better than yesterday the stop/start is irritating ... I would drive me up the wall to have tutorials do that.
Hope this helps :)

Ok,
Just spoke with our webteam and a couple of different things could have been going on.
We could have been experiencing a slow connection from our servers to the internet, which would cause a slowdown. Or we as users could have been having the same issues from our end. Or it could have been a combo of both the servers and the end users having issues at points along the way.
The internet is a vast network of hops and hubs and other technical stuff,
and if there is a problem anywhere along the way then the end user is going to have issues.
In order to continue to test and monitor the situation could you guys go to the following sites and let us know if you are able to view them now with no problems, or if you are having problems can you let us know with a quick post here in the forums?
Just a quick yes I can see them fine or no I had the following issue (fill in the issue)
Thanks for everyones input :)

When posting comments about streaming video problems, please include information on your Internet connection... Cable Modem, DSL, etc. Please note that the three video clips Tami mentioned are streaming Flash video, not downloads or progressive download video as we've been using, so they will not work properly (pausing, stopping, etc.) for anyone using an Internet connection slower than 300k or so (Such as Dial-up connections, ISDN, cellular, and some types of satellite based Internet). Also, it is a good idea not to have any other downloads, video streams, or audio streams running at the same time you're watching the video to make sure that it can use the full bandwidth available on your Internet connection.
For those that were speculating our server was busy, a slowdown on our side should be a non-issue. These are the first videos on a new high-end dedicated video server. We are averaging somewhere between 1% to 5% of our existing bandwidth capacity on that server, and we have plans in place with our hosting company to expand the existing capacity about 900% within a matter of minutes in the event of a huge traffic spike.

All three videos stalled at numerous points. I am running G4 1.5 ghz, 512 ram, 10.3.9 OS, cable modem, no other activity on my machine or on my modem and all other sites are screaming.
I have also noted Flash issues when I am at work on the network (windows based) because of our internal security, windows media and quicktime are the only things that work consistently.
I must admit I prefer the older Quicktime format because it was dependable.

http://www.photoshopworld.com/nappgrill.html - Pauses every 4-5 seconds. Would never want to use anything delivered that behaved this way.
http://www.layersmagazine.com/press/ipodflea.php - Paused after 45 seconds. Then every 4-5 seconds. Forever to load.
http://www.photoshopworld.com/nocutkelby.html - Paused every 10 seconds.
All 3 unusable.

I think that I was very lucky: I could watch all 3 with no problems at all.
I found them so funny. Rocky has to be aware: a better hero is born: Scott no cut Kelby! ANd I will send to my teenage daughter the one of ipod: sure that she will be interesting to get it!!!!
Thanks for the links.

I've tried the ipodflea one a couple days in a row. It's excruciatingly difficult -- stops many times, and the pauses are long, a minute or more sometimes. The other two have short pauses, but nothing that causes me concern. They start back up after a second or two.
I'm using an iBook G4 and we have cable modem.

Thanks everyone for all the input.
The webteam has all of your information for review.
I think part of the problem might be the size of the files..(you win Jim) They are huge by web standards. (As my favorite webteam guy keeps telling me, it's too big, it needs to be smaller...) I take him a file..he says "too big" I say "but it has to be big to look good" he says, "doesn't matter how good it looks, if no one can see it..." Guess there's a reason I'm not a "webteam guy"
As always, we'll keep looking for the best way to bring you the best quality, in the best formats in the biggest size I can get away with :)

And that Tami, is why we love you. It's great to have such a concerned team thinking of it's members. This is not the kind of place where you take the money and don't care and that is exactly why you will keep getting the subscription money!
I think we all set the tone for what kind of community we want to have and because everyone is helpful rather than critical and nasty, we all work and play well together!!
Thanks from us all.
