After reading about Kimi's tragedy, I wonder if anyone has any experience or advice about On Line Storage.
Is it a good option?

One way i use on line storage is to mail photos to myself at web e-mail accounts, gigs of storage are free and i don't think Google or Yahoo or the rest will be gone too soon. I think it's most important to have several ways to fall back on.
I don't have time now to find the link but Jane aka wags374 has posted about one she uses that sounds painless.

I use Carbonite (http://www.carbonite.com/) and found it to be a great service.
The initial backup can take as long as a week depending on how much stuff you have stored. It works in the background and you really don't notice it.
They have a free trial. I don't think the free trial includes pictures or video.

I am also interested in this--I was researching yesterday.
Consumer Reports says Mozy is a good one, Carbonite very slow. Also read good things about Xdrive.
I would welcome any info that anyone has.

I use Carbonite - less than $5 a month - and it backs up everything on my hard drive automatically within minutes of my saving it. It also holds anything I delete for 30 days, just in case I didn't intend to delete it.
I was always horrible at remembering to back stuff up, so I love the peace of mind that Carbonite provides.

thanks Jane,
I will check it out--I'm guessing it will back up the external hard drives too? Do you have a limit? I'm thinking with 3 externals equaling about 1700G it might cost alot.
