In PE6.0I have by mistake added some photos into one keyword file by mistake. They are currently in their correct one. My problem is how do I remove the ones I do not want in this file? There appears to be no command that I can find to delete them .Please help. Thank you all.

On the tag below the image, right click and choose remove tag. If there are a number of them you can select them all and right click, choose remove the keyword tag.

I have removed all the tags but the files still remain. The only option is to delets them but then I will loose the images. I am at a loss as to what to do.

Graem...
Perhaps the first thing to point out is that Elements does not store your images - it acts like a database and just stores links to the original file. What you see in Elements is a thumbnail view.
Keywords (Tag) are neither Files or Folders. The are just like labels that Elements ties onto the image thumbnail. All the Keywords(Tags) are stored in the Elements database, alongside the reference to the image file.
If you delete a Keyword(Tag) it just removes that entry from the database. In other words the label is no longer tied to the image. The image still remains because you haven't deleted it.

I'm just guessing on this...
I think PSE allows you to permanently write tags to a photo's meta data and save the tag info with the image so other programs that use meta data (tag like labels) can view the info. If this is the case, it might help to skip PSE all together and just find the file in Windows Explorer, right click on the image and and go to properties. On the details tab there should be a line for Tags or labels or such. Try deleting that data.
Again, just making a guess here that may help.

I think there's a risk of going badly wrong here, because none of us reading really knows what you mean by a "keyword file". It's not standard Elements terminology. Can you try and expand on what you mean, and what you're trying to achieve?
(As far as tags and metadata are concerned, Elements doesn't routinely write its tags to photo files, unless you specifically tell it to, or you open a suitable file in Editor. If you deleted metadata from an image using another program of any sort, I don't think it would affect Organiser, which tags based on it own tag database, not the keyword/tags in the file.)

The reason I have been asking is because I somehow included some images that should not have been on this keytag.
I canceled the keytags for these images hoping they would delete themselves as the did in PSe 5.0. Unfortunately they still remain. I have them in the correct keytag folder but would like to remove the duplicates.
I hope that makes things a little clearer.

Hi Graem,
Am I right in thinking you have some photos in Organiser and you added a Keyword Tag to them? (The right one) Then you accidentally added another incorrect tag? And subsequently removed it?
Now you can still see the photos in Organiser? That is correct behaviour. The photo's are still there. Or do you mean that if you select the incorrect tag, the photos still show up as being tagged with it.
Tagging doesn't create duplicates by the way. Your photos stay on your hard drive - just one copy. Tags are just labels attached to photos so that Organiser knows when to display them You can add as many tags as you like to a photo and there's still only one copy of it.
