I have tagged approx. 1,400 pics. in PSE 6 that I would like to copy to one folder on my hard drive. Is there a way of saving these that way or do I have to copy them to a DVD than to the hard drive? I will be making a slide show on ProShow Gold w/these. Thanks so much for the help.

I have used drag and drop in V6 to put images on a disc as well as into another folder on a different EHD. I checked the images out on the disc and folder and they are copied there. The originals remain where they were before in multiple files.

This makes it easy if you have tagged items that are saved in various places. Select the tag to open them in the organizer. Then select the images and drag and drop to the destination.

It works!

EDIT: I would think that many images should be done in stages. You may boggle the computer to copy that many at one time.

In PSE5, there is an Export command in the File menu which does what you want, makes a copy of every selected photo, and puts the copies in a single folder. Warning: each photo should have a unique name.

Of course, you want to be sure the images are not overwritten. However, when I was dragging to a file and had duplicate names, the copy stopped to ask if I wanted to replace that file.

My approach to that type of project would be to make a collection and order it in the order I want the slideshow. Then I would select the collection and use file export with renaming to a common base name to preserve the order. (EgyptTrip001, EgyptTrip002, etc.) You can also set file type, size, and compression during the export. It may be useful to set the pixel dimensions to whatever is best for your slideshow output.

With the number of photos you are working with I would probably divide the slideshow into sections with a collection for each to avoid being overwhelmed.
