my filters do not work..why????

i do underwater pictures so i use dust and scratches and median FILTERS all the time, but they have quit working. i have plenty of ram, and have tried deleting prefs and cache, as well as cat. recover,,,,but nothing seems to restore the lost filters. my file size is 8x10 with 300 resolution, and i deleted and reinstalled psdelements 5 just last month. any suggestions to get my filters back would be much appreciated.:pladydianab

Have you tried this, just before you open the editor press and hold down the shift key untill you see a progress bar that rebuilds the artwork and effects thar should sort your prob out. jon

Could your photos be 16 bit? Most filters and such will only work on 8 bit images.
