Greetings,
I have two passport size photos which i have created and would like to print out. They are about 30mm wide and 40mm high so what I thought Id do is create a new file the size of a standard 6*4 photo and drag two copies of each of these onto the new file and print. This way I only use one piece of photo paper for the four photos. So I create the new blank 6*4 and open the two passport jpgs. Problem is that when I drag and drop the original passport size photos onto this new blank file, PS automatically resizes them. Looking at the ruler they end up being about 80mm high instead of 40mm. I could manually resize them but i wanted to retain the original size. How do I drag an existing photo onto a new blank canvas and retain its size please? I find this very strange as I thought PS would default to retaining size.
Im using PS6.
Thanks

David,
- Open first JPEG photo
- Press [Ctrl+A] to select all
- Press [Ctrl+C] to copy the photo
- Go to 6x4 document
- Press [Ctrl+V] to paste the photo
- Drag it into document corner with the Move Tool
- Press [Ctrl+J] to duplicate layer
- Drag the copy to another corner with the Move Tool
...
- Proceed to the second photograph...

Hi ...

It may be worth checking the resolution ... it sounds as though the resolution of the photos and the resolution of the new file you created may be different.

So when you add one to the other it becomes larger ..

To check the resolution just do Image>Resize>Image Size and note down the sizes and resolution in there.

Wendy :)

The resolutions were both 300 px/inch. Andreis suggestion was spot on. There is obviously a difference between copy/paste and drag/drop. Thanks heaps.

There is obviously a difference between copy/paste and drag/drop.

I wonder.

I'm a resize after drag/drop kinda girl, so this isn't a issue for me - but if the resolution is the same, I can't imagine why an image would change sizes. Guess I need to go play - just love mysteries.
