This is really driving me crazy and I can't find an answer so hopefully I can get some help on here from the computer guru's.

I recently installed Photoshop CS3 and ever since it seems to have taken over all my image files as the main editor/viewer.

When I'm looking at the listing of my image files in Windows, now there are all these Photoshop icons by them. Thumbnail view no longer displays - just another Photoshop icon. And of course when I open any image file it opens in Photoshop CS3.

For now at least, I still want Photoshop Elements to be associated with my image files in Windows and open any .psd files - Not Photoshop CS3. How in the world do I change this?

Hi Pat ...

Open Bridge and go into Bridge preferences and choose file type associations ... you can change it from there.

Or

Another way you can do this is to right click on any picture on your hard drive and select "Open With". Then select the Choose Program option from the menu. Select the program you want to open the picture from the list and also check the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box.

You have to do this for file types (e.g. jpegs).

Wendy,

Thanks so much for finding this and taking the time to respond.

Used Bridge and I'm all fixed up again - one more thing off my aggravation list! :)
