Hello,
I have a simple question; when I have a layer that I want to lower the opacity on, why do I get the "checkerboard" on it as it lowers? Thank you for your help!

the checker pattern shows that it is transparent.

And if there's nothing underneath to show then it shows it as being transparent. Put another (non transparent) layer underneath with 100% opacity and the checkerboard will disappear.
