I'm currently using Elements 4 and I'm considering buying version 6 for my daughter who is begining to develop as a budding photographer.

The new interface is a little disappointing to my way of thinking. :( So I thought I'd let her try it and give me her feedback.

Here is my question. How many licenses are available with version 4 and version 6? Between us we have two desktop systems and a laptop with an aditional laptop purchase in the near future for my daughter. Right now version 4 is loaded only on my desktop computer.

I'm trying decide the best way to cover at least three of the computers with Elements software useing either 4 or 6 until a new update is forthcoming from Adobe hopefully later this year.

Thanks in advance for your valued advice. :D

According to the license agreement for PSE found here (http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/), the primary user is allowed to install the software on a second computer for his/her exclusive use but is not allowed to have it in use on both computers at the same time.

(That link is for PSE5 but I think it would apply to 4 and 6 as well...)

Yes, the EULA for PSE6 contains the same clause, as did PSE3, so I think it's a safe bet that v4 was the same.

A strict reading of the clause is that, if you are the Primary User of one installation, and you install a copy onto a laptop, only you may use the copy on the laptop, not your daughter, whereas anyone can use the original desktop version.

I strongly suspect that that limitation is a hangover from the agreement being drafted to cover commercial use, with a second copy on the relevant employee's laptop or home machine, for use by the employee, but not by their family. Presumably to cover work taken home.

In practical terms, I think most people interpret it as Julie says: two copies, only one of which is in use at any given time.

I've not seen any PSE multi-user license packs on sale.

Many thanks, Julie and Nick, for the information.

My daughter is a stay-at-home mom and now that her two kids are in school she has decided to embark upon a career move in photography. I'm still undecided as to which way to go with the editing software. I want us both to be using the same Elements versions so that I can help her a bit with the learning curve. Actually, at my level of expertise, she would be much better off by just referring her here.:D

Thanks again,
Don
