I have recently upgraded from 4 to 6. I have an HP3110 printer.
Every time i change the paper settings it reverts to a "letter" format.
I have re-installed the printer drivers to no avail. The problem occurs in both edit and organise mode when I try to print.
I have set the printer preferences with and without elements loaded and also through the print preferences though elements.
I had no problems with elements 5!
Thanks

I think that's normal that it reverts to the default printer preferences (which you can change in the Windows>Control Panel). There was a change made in PSE6 to accomodate Vista in that there's a Printer Preferences box in the Color Management section of the Print dialogue box which changes the default. Personally because I use my printer for both regular printer and photos I leave the Windows default on normal paper and use Page Set Up >Printer > Properties in PSE6 to change to my Photo Paper custom set up. It's sticky until you shut down PSE6 and then it reverts to the Windows default. I think that's the way it worked in PSE5.

PS Here's a thread that discussed the PSE6 change:

Thank you Tony.
I have tried setting the printer preferences through the control panel which sets the default preferences for every other program and did so for PSE5.
Control panel >printer.Hp Photosmart 3110>properties>print pref.> borderless photoprint,4 x 6,phototray,landscape>O.K.
PES6 Edit,cropped photo 6 x 4. File>Page set up> Dialogue box shows: borderless,4 x 6,phototray,landscape>O.K.
Ctrl P, PSE6 print dialogue box opens. Print size shown is 10.2cm X 15.2cm, everything looks O.K. >print. Print clipping warning dialogue box opens>O.K.
The page set up has been changed to “letter”.
The page set up will not let me change from the letter format. Have just persevered only to have the program crash.
I will now try an un-install, install on PSE6.

Jim: That does sounds like a strange behaviour. What happens if you set the default printer setting to letter and then change the PSE6 Page Set-up>Printer>Properties to 4x6 (which is the way I do it). Does PSE6 revert to letter when you do it that way round.
Hopefully someone with that printer or similar (eg a 3310) can help some more or at least confirm that PSE6 is working right with that printer.

Thanks Tony,
Tried that. No joy:(.
Program crashes if I persist.
I will now load PSE6 on my wifes laptop which runs Vista.
If that works I will shange my laptop from XP.
Thanks again

Yes Gary.
Maybe an incompatability with the HP 3110 printer. I want to give it a go with another printer first.

PSE6 prints a 4 x 6 with an HP Deskjet 3745.
Problem is between PSE6 and my HP Photosmart 3110.:(

I'm havin a very similar problem with the HP PhotoSmart 8250, also upgrading from PSE4 to PSE6. I get strange margin settings which can not be changed. Often have a 2.03 Right Margin setting - when changed to 0, it revert back to 2.03 when the cursor leaves the box.
I did get improvement by uninstalling, removing a Postscript printer driver needed for a 'Print to PDF' application, setting the HP8250 as defaut printer with 4X6 landscape as default and reinstalling. I do still get a dialog box saying that PostScript settings will be ignored (no idea where that is coming from) and I did get 4X6 prints on 1 of our PCs (not another) - both running XP.
I've been in touch with both Adobe and HP - no specific advice yet.
I've seen other posts in different threads discussing the same problem. It may be something which can not be fixed. I can print frm the PSE6 Organizer, which, I think, use a different print engine, or from PSE4, which I still have installed.
