View Full Version : Help with Veil

I am relatively new to PSE (I have version 6) and I am trying to put together a wedding album for my daughter.

I am getting stuck when I need to edit photos and change something that shows through her veil. Her wedding took place overlooking water on a very hazy day.

I darken the water and far shoreline to make them standout better, and substitute a gradient sky that changes from a light, light blue to the current white to make it have some interest and not so overwhelming. However, the veil always ends up looking wrong somehow.

I would appreciate any ideas that could help me.

Here is a link to an example photo (untouched) that shows the washed out sky and water.

Hi Barb, what a lovely picture, beautiful bride.

I played with the picture.
Specifically I added a sky on TOP of the picture.
Then I set the blendmode on that layer to Multiply.
As you can see the sky lookes motheaten.
I took an eraser and erased the sky wherever it
covered the bride and the gazebo.
It is doable. You can lower the opacity of the eraser in the option bar
where you need the transition between the veil and the sky.
You probably could do the same for the water.
Or even do a reshoot of just the scenery.
The screenshot shows the layers.

The technique was demonstrated on the forum by Butch.
Thanks Butch.

Thanks for the compliment and help.

I will try the multiply option - I haven't tried that yet.
