If I'm using Elements 5 can I upgrade to cs2 by using the cs2 upgrade or do I have to be using cs2 to begin with.

CS2 is not an upgrade from elements, it's a whole new application. CS2 is no longer carried by the Adobe store, they are now up to CS3. You may be able to find a copy of CS2 at a discount, but I don't know whether it will run on Leopard (Mac). I'm on a mac and have no info about PCs. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with info for PC.

Just came across the following about photoshop upgrade from elements:

Hi Mark

PE to PS is not an official upgrade path. Registered uses of PE sometimes get special pricing (once a year or so) if they want to purchase PS. I think last fall it was $299..$249 (cant recall) for PS... for registered users of PE.

It is not an overwrite. You will still have both programs on your computer.

Hope this helps

Hi ..

There is an upgrade option from Elements to Photoshop but its not the one you usually see and they don't actually reduce the price very much.

If you go to the Adobe Store ... Select Photoshop CS3 and then click on the Upgrade Option you will see one which is from Elements. The upgrade cost is $549.

Wendy :)

Thanks everyone, I thought it was too good to be true!!!

Guess I'll stick with PSE5 for a while longer.

SCRAPPYGIRL, they are offering upgrades from elements 3, 4, 5 & PS limited edition for $199.00. Either mac or pc. The upgrade they've been advertising to date was $343.00. $199.00 is a great price.

I agree, I also see $549 when upgrading from PE5. If you enter Photoshop 7 or several others on this link then the price is $199

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up Frank, I'll look into it further when I get home from work this afternoon.

Yesterday it clearly showed $199.00 for both mac and pc after I selected the version. I wish I had taken a screen shot of it.
Sorry

No worries, I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Maybe they were reading this thread and you tipped them off to a pricing error.:D

Well it looks like the cost to go from PSE5 to CS3 is going to be 549, which is way too much for me right now. Guess I'll be staying with PSE5 for a while.
