HAVING PROBLEMS WITH DISPLACEMENT MAPS,, THIS WAS AN ARTICLE BY WENDY WILLIAMS, SHOWING AN IMAGE OF AN AUTO OVERLAID BY A FLAG. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE STEPS AS SHOWN IN THE ARTICLE BUT AFTER SPENDING MANY HOURS AND ATTEMPTS I COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK. I AM NEW TO ELEMENTS 5 AND MIGHT BE MISINTERPRETING SOME OF THE STEPS. HAS A "PSE" MAGAZINE BEEN ISSUED THAT COVERS THE STEPS IN MUCH MORE DETAIL? IF SO I WOULD LIKE TO GET THAT BACK ISSUE.

Why don't you let us know what the problem is and someone will help you out. At what point in the process is it going off-track? They can be a bit tricky and Wendy will most likely be along to help you out. I have never quite "gotten" it myself but several people here have done really impressive displacement map work.

Hi Bugzee,
I have managed the odd displacement mat myself. As Nancy says, it would help if you could let us know which bit(s) you're having problems with. Then someone could walk you through it. They can be complicated, and I will admit that each time I do one I have to go back and review the various tutorials to remind myself!
Oh, and Volume 4 Number 2 of the newsletter featured a Displacement Mat tutorial.

PS. Could I also put in a request - could you possibly take off the Caps Lock when typing? - in forum etiquette it's generally considered akin to shouting, and my ears are hurting!:D
