Okay, I'm working my way thru a transfer from an xp machine to a vista machine. I've read some of the notes and followed closely but I still have one issue. I actually bought the CD (was having problems with the download version I thought) to load onto the vista machine. It has the AMD Anthon processor. Anyway, with the CD I actually installed the software and the machine rebooted and I could run PE6. Then I closed down for the night and cold started this morning. The HP would not start so I had to shut it down and then when vista went thru its' routine to restore itself, I again lost PE6 (like I did with the download). Is there some trick to getting PE6 loaded?

Hi,
When you say you've lost PSE, do you mean all its program files have disappeared, or just that it won't run? Is the catalog file still on the machine?
Is your machine behaving properly at other times? This sounds to me as though there's an underlying problem with your machine which is preventing boot up, and once you switch off, the next time you start the machine is returning to a last known good configuration that was before the PSE install.
I'm still running XP, I'm afraid, so can be of limited help. But there are a number of people here who are running PSE6 under Vista, and I've not seen any of them report this behaviour or any special procedure to install.
It's possible that PSE is a casualty of some other problem, rather than the cause.

Some of the program appears to be listed but the folder (with a picture of a camera) for the application has disapeared. Could be a confilct with vista but it's werid. I actually installed the pe6 disk and the new computer rebooted and I could run the application but then when I signed on the next day, I had troubles starting vista.

One thing that could cause a problem is your antivirus software. Whenever I install a program, I turn it off during the install. When you installed PSE6, did you turn off your antivirus? If not, then I suggest trying to install it again with the antivirus off and see if that helps.
I have PSE5.02 on my Vista PC so I can't help you with 6.0 installation. I did follow Adobes transfer procedure from XP to Vista and that went well. You can look at what Adobe says about install problems with this link.

Well I think I've resolved issue. It appears that when I transferred over data from my old xp machine which had PE5 on it, the photo downloader application was loaded into the startup menu. When I loaded the new PE6, it did not recognize that there was some pe5 application in the startup so I think that may have been the issue. Once I removed the photo downloader from the startup menu, the vista machine seems to be able to start now. Will follow up after a few more trials.:)
