I have had PSE versions 2,3,4 and 6 and have recently noticed a problem. I have family photos that are somehow aquiring black eyes when they are viewed with PSE 6. I mean one person in the phot looks like they were punched in the eye. I started to try and fix them but then decided to open the same files in PSE 4. They look fine in PSE 4. They look just like they did when I last viewd the. Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? A virus... or glitch in the software? Any thoughts are appreciated!

It is probably the automatic Red Eye Removal tool. Go into the Preferences, both for Editor and Organizer and turn the feature off in all instances.

I did have all of the automatic redeye correction disabled in PSE6. I thought I did but since it was only happening around the eyes I thought that might be the cause so I checked again. This is very strange?

Also, when you click on >Get Photos in Organizer, just about every option has a check box for Automatically Fix Red Eyes. Be sure it is unchecked there, too.

I did have the automatically fix red eyes box checked in the >Get photos menu. I unchecked it and a few of the photos seemed to fix themselves? The others I am thinking I will need to delete from the catalog and retrieve again. Like I said in PSE4 they all look fine it is just PSE6 that is doing this. Thanks alot for your help Juergan.

Greg,
I had simular problems a few weeks ago after scanning an image into PSE6, not sure what causes this to happen but both people in the image had black eyes.
I resolved the issue by closing then re opening the file in PSE6.
Maybe someone out their can tell us why this happens.
