've been using PSE5's organizer and editor for a few months and I love them both. Now I'm trying to burn my first CD of photos for my parents and it isn't working. I have WIndows XP and Nero version 6 (updated yesterday).

THrough the organizer I select the photos, choose File, Copy/Move Offline and the Adobe menu pops up but I can't select anything in it. I'm supposed to select the write speed of the burner but nothing is highlited. I put in my CD or DVD and Nero's menu pops up asking me to browse through all my files and folders in Windows Explorer format. But I don't want to select through WIndows. Obviously I want to select through PSE where are my photos are grouped by tags and collections for easy sorting.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both programs but to no avail. After two days of dealing with this my frustration level is very high. This should be so easy shouldn't it??? Please help! Thank you.

I don't have PSE6, but in PSE5, when the dialog box pops up, you first have to click on the CD or DVD burner's name you want to use. I know that seems silly, since most people only have a single burner in their computer. Only after you click on the CD or DVD burner's name, then the burn speed becomes selectable.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried highlighting the ones you want and doing a copy/paste to Nero?

In Version 6, you can do drag/drop as well.

Be sure you don't use the move offline option. That will remove the images from your harddrive.

My preference when making a disk of copies for someone is to use file>export and have them copied to folder on the desktop. I often start from an ordered collection and use renaming with a common base name during export so filename order will preserve the collection order I chose.

Then I burn the folder(s) to a cd using the xp burning software and often add a "read me" text file with a few details. If I burn directly from Organizer(v.2) it burns and closes the cd and I don't have the opportunity to use multiple folders or add text files.

First, thank you DJ for taking the time to write in with the tip about selecting the burner. It wasn't silly - in fact, it was my solution!! That was all I needed. I can't believe I didn't think about it!! Everything seems to be working great now.

Thank you to the other two respondents as well. I had no idea there was a File Export command in PSE or what it could do. Great info to have, especially if I ever run into problems again burning through the organizer.

I am a very new forum user and I honestly had no idea of the scope of these things or of how many people constantly surf these forums with the sole purpose of helping other people. Renews one's faith in the generosity of the human spirit. Thank you for that. I will try to pay your kindness forward.

Great to hear that, Lorraine. Keep asking questions when you get stuck. I do!
