Hello Everyone!!

Im taking my sister in law's senior pics this weekend and I have an idea of a picture i would love to create but I am unsure how to make my idea become a reality. I use photoshop elements 5, I have learned simple things like how to change a color portrait to black and white with some color in it. But I came up with the idea to have her in her cap and gown looking out of a window and then inside the window have her in a regular outfit looking back at herself... Kinda like looking into the past... Sorry if it sounds confusing.. But any help is apprecaiated!:)

Hello and welcome to the Village. You can accomplish this using layers. You will need to take the two photos and try to keep them pretty close to the same size when you take it. You will then create a layered image with both photos and remove part of the top layer to allow the lower layer to show thru. You will have to size the lower layer to fit properly in the window. Once you get the photos, post them at www.pixentral.com (http://www.pixentral.com) and we will give you a hand.

Hi Amber, another way you can achieve this is to take her picture next to a window looking out the way you want. If the weather permits you could take the second picture outside from the angle of the view from the window and then combine them in Elements in the way Nancy described. If the weather doesn't permit you to take the second one outside, position her again at the window this time facing in the direction as if she were looking in. This will make the window merge of the two photos much easier.

Thanks for the support everyone, I will try to take a bunch of different photos this weekend and post them on here for everyone to see, hopefully something will work out for the idea. Im not a professional photographer or anything, just trying to help my sister in law out and get her some awsome pictures without the high prices.

Hi Amber,

Idid this with a bride, her looking into a mirror and then put another image of her in the mirror looking back at herself. If weather doesn't permit an outside picture this might be an alternative.

Yes, do post your pictures and I'm sure if you get "stuck," many of the wonderful and talented people here can assist you, believe me!!!

Also, welcome to the forums!

Picture is GREAT. How did you accomplish this effect. I am sure it has a lot to do with layers. I have taken the retouching on-line course which was an excellent course. I learned a lot.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
