:( Oh boy, I've got a bit of a problem. I recently upgraded from elements 5 to 6 on my old XP desktop. A couple of days ago I was able to purchase a new HP with Vista and I have a problem. I used Windows easy Transfer but was unable to get elements to work. So I went back to my elements 5 CD and loaded. Seemed to work although I'm having problems with the organizer finding my pictures but biggest problem was I then went back to my upgrade to elements 6 email and downloaded again. Everything seems to go okay but when the computer wants to restart, the cpu hangs and I have to power off, then go thru a recovery routine. When I do that, not only is element 6 not there but also elemen has disappeared. I'm really confused now.

You do seem to be in a pickle. When I investigated transferring files from my XP home machine to my new Vista PC, I found out that Easy transfer wouldn't work because my new machine has an AMD core. The easy transfer cable only works with Intel machines. Not sure what you have but that would be one problem area to look at.

Second place is did you get PSE 5.02 loaded? That one is compatible with Vista, but not 5.0. You can get 5.02 here, http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows . No need to install 5.0 first, just have your key code to enter from 5.0.

To transfer my pictures over to Vista, I followed the following procedure at Adobe, http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=333522 .

I don't have PSE 6.0 so I can't help you there. But from what I read here in the forums and elsewhere, it might be a while before I do.

Hope this helps.
