hey all!

wondering if i can 'splain this well enough. here goes.....

so i have a background which i really like with shapes and shading, etc. i really would like to have the same background but in different colors/hues. aside from trying to recreate the whole thing (no way!), is there anyway to simply change the color without losing the 'picture' as is?

hoping there's a way!

tia!

Hi ...

Have you tried Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue & Saturation ... that may work for you :)

You could also try adding a New Layer, setting the Blend Mode to Colour and then paint over the image with whatever colour and brush you choose.

Thank you so much. I was actually able to do it again after I walked away from it so now I know I have it down for backgrounds (tho I can't figure out how to designate color change for clip art using both methods. I can only do this using hue/saturation change as Wendy's tip described.....)

I need to take this all one step further, if you all don't mind.

I'm having trouble copying and pasting after I make the color change. For the background, if I want to take a clip/portion of the new color background, when I copy and paste into another project, I get the original color back. What am I missing to make the paste happen in the new color I've designated?

Thx a million!

I'm not at home where I can try this, but can you merge the two layers (the color blend mode and the normal mode layers) and then try to copy? You might want to give that a try.:)

Hi ...

What is happening is that your original (with the original colour) is on one layer and above that is a Hue & Saturation Layer (which is causing the colour to look as if it is changed).

So if you click on you original layer and copy and past it into another image then you are just copying the original layer, with the origianal colours.

Try this ...

Instead of doing Edit>Copy do Edit>Copy>Merged (that will make a merged copy of everything ... so will copy the new colour too :) ) then paste it into your new image.

Hi ..

The best way to learn is to ask questions ... so if you get stuck then just ask :)

Thank you so much!

I've been busy all day working on my 2008 calendar. Only 2 months left to go. lol!

After working on it for so long, I decided that I was really glad I didn't do all the months in order because I'm getting better as I go and learning new techniques with each new page. This is really a lot of fun and def the best way to learn this program.

Without responses from people like you (and the others!!!), it wouldn't be possible. SO A VERY BIG THANK YOU!!!
