On a very cold night here near Chicago, I took it upon myself to reincarnate some of last summer's hostas to remind us that spring is on the way. These reliable performers grow and multiply like rabbits, who also enjoy making a snack out of them.

Very nice, Ron. Hostas make a good photographic subject - they come in so many different colors, sizes, textures.

Wonderful image. My husband is a hosta grower too and we have some that are nearly 6 feet across and 3 feet high all the way down to 6 inches across and about and inch high. They do make great photographic subjects.

That is BEAUTIFUL!!! We have hostas too, and I decided to have some note cards made using that picture. Yes, they sure do multiply!!! We actually have some that we took with us when we left my childhood home in 1960...They have gone on to 4 houses, been divided and multiplied!!! I love hostas, and your picture is WONDERFUL!!!

Here is a very small section of our back yard. We have since enclosed the covered deck and have a screen room, but the back yard has dozens more hosta like these. We have nearly 1/2 acre and this is just a tiny section. The beds ring the entire fenced yard, the pool and all the trees like this. Our yard was featured on the garden tour in 2000, but it has definitely not fared well since then because of the droughts we have had for the last 3 summers in a row. This picture was taken 2 years ago.

It seems to me you posted a beautiful picture of your front yard a few years back that took my breath away....well, your backyard does the same. It should be photographed and in a MAGAZINE!!!!!!!!
Looks like a lush, lovely, restful spot....BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Thank you Ron and Coleen. We call it out own tropical paradise. The hosta enjoy the 100+ year-old oak trees and the shade they provide and we have just enough of a hole to have our pool in the sun. It is very peaceful and I love it. We screened the deck to avoid mosquitos and now we can sit out there and actually enjoy it. We have a brick patio made from bricks I dug up (he wanted to toss them out) that used to be a sidewalk to the back of the lot we kept running into as we installed beds. We got enough to do a full patio off the deck. We added a fishpond last year. It's beautiful, but like I said the mosquitos were so bad we couldn't enjoy it. My husband finshed the deck off and even added cable TV (go figure) so he can watch while he sits out there. Me - I turn it off and just relax with the sounds of nature and the breeze of the ceiling fans.

Sounds heavenly!!! honestly, I can figure there would be times it would be nice to have the TV there and times it would be nice without it!!! Our "family room" doesn't have a TV in it, it is actually more of a library of sorts, but it is the room with the fireplace, so today, the TV will come in from the sunroom into the Family room and we will have a FIRE and watch the games! GO GIANTS!!!!
:oI think I got off topic!!! Love the hostas!!!!:D
