Are there any tutorials for very basic Lightroom. I have version 1.3 and can't find anything regarding something as basic as importing. I'm sure it's simple if you know what you are doing but I don't understand how to bring my files from "My Pictures" into LR and organize them according to subject, i.e. landscapes, grandchildren, etc. I have many many files of photos in My Pictures and right now they are just in folders according to month taken.
Thanks, Jackie

Hi Jackie,
You may want to start by watching Importing Your Photos (http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/archives/videos/page/10/)from Matt Kloskowski's Lightroom Killer Tips. His site is chock full of good information.
Also, two good books are The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers (http://www.amazon.ca/Adobe-Photoshop-Lightroom-Digital-Photographers/dp/0321492161/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200360402&sr=8-1) by Scott Kelby and The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book: The Complete Guide for Photographers (http://www.amazon.ca/Adobe-Photoshop-Lightroom-Book-Photographers/dp/0321385438/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200360402&sr=8-2)by Martin Evening.

I'll add one more book that's become my favorite reference:
Photoshop Lightroom Adventure: Mastering Adobe's next-generation tool for digital photographers (http://www.amazon.com/Photoshop-Lightroom-Adventure-next-generation-photographers/dp/059610099X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200360913&sr=8-1) by Mikkel Aaland
Mikkel wrote some really good Elements books back in the 'early days', and I really like his new book on Lightroom.

Some resources below. The second link has numerous Podcasts but the latest tend to appear first so you may need to dig for the earlier ones.

Thank you to Julie, Chuck, and Colin for replying. I will check these suggestions out. I know though that Scott Kelby's book was for either 1.0 or 1.1 version. I'm specifically looking for something for 1.3 as I need things spelled out pretty clearly.

Jackie, any book that's for 1.1 or higher will give you 99% of what you need. The last three versions (1.2, 1.3, 1.31) have fundamentally just added support for more cameras and fixed a few obscure bugs. Martin Evening's book is for 1.0, but he published an extensive supplement for 1.1+ on the web that's available to owners of his book.

Here (http://www.whibalhost.com/_Tutorials/Photoshop_LR/01/) is a site that has free videos to introduce the features of Lightroom, including one on importing your photos.
