I'm surre this is a basic consept for someone....
I'm removing a shadow by copying the background, moving over, and masking. Why is my copied portion of the background such a different color? Should'nt it be the same????????

Hi Michelle,
A solid color wall, in a photo, is basically like a gradient, due to the change in lighting from one side of the room to the other.
I've found that you can usually get the moved in part closer to the rest of the wall color by using a Levels adjustment and moving the midtones (middle slider). Then touch it up where the two meet with the Clone tool.
Hope this helps.

Michelle - is the cloning mode "Normal"? Have you tried a tool reset? Sometimes I play with all settings and get everything out of whack and only a tool reset gets me going again.

Thanks.. a levels adjustment corrected the problem. At that point in the touch up I had'nt used my clone.
This is the original
