all collections on organizer pse5.0 went away

Hi I have pse 5.0 have 7000 photos and had 257 collections last night when i turned on it opened in organizer showed all 7000 photos if you scroled down but on the right side where all the collections always were there were none
i called adobe tect explained the problem and they said they didnt thin they could help me that it must be a damaged file problem i have done all kind of thing to try and get the collection to come back ,would appreciate any help the thought of havint to put all photos back in collections in not good thank you

Have you done a File->Catalog->Recover (hopefully that was the first thing, but just checking)?

Hi yes i have done that but i just did it again and it said that the catalog had been recovered but i had the catalog any way just all my 257 collections that show me what is in the catalog are missings im open to any and all info thank you wayne

Are your tags and categories still there?

Did you ever make a backup copy of your catalog file (.psa)?

In answer to your questions I have to say no to all.
I tried all i could I even called adobe and explained the problem to them they put me on hold for 5 min or so then came back and said they had on solution to my problem so i proceded to uninstall elements 5.0 and reinstall when i did this i had all my photos 7076 on the organizer as before but no collections so I took the time to put all photos back in collections by the year will take time to sort out more in future

Hi,
I had the same problem exactly with PSE3, ( and the same lack of help from Adobe).
Now that you have reinstalled PSE and basically started again, do you have any further thoughts? Did you learn of a better solution or am I going to do what you did?
I also found that any new photo would not stay in the browser.
