View Full Version : An Improved "Distribute" Tool

I think a useful variation to the "Distribute" tool would space pictures of different widths with the same separation between them along the horizontal. PSE6's "Distribute" command is a wonderful tool but by simply evenly distributing the centers, wide pictures (landscape) will overlap the narrow (portrait) ones.

Of course the same request applies to spacing images along the vertical.

Hi Vasni,

Have you tried turning on the Grid (under the View menu) and then turning on Snap to Grid.

And under the Edit > Preferences menu, you can adjust the spacing for your grid.

With these both turned on, when you Move an image, it will snap to the lines in the grid and if you have the gridlines adjusted to your liking, it is easy to line up images with equal spaces between either horizontal or vertical.

That's a great workaround Diana, but the minimum permissable grid spacing is 0.0625" and in some of my rows I need spaces as small as 0.0406".

I tried setting the spacing to 0.0812" (twice 0.0406), with subdivisions, but PSE didn't let me do that. Nevertheless, it still is a great help to set the grid at twice the spacing needed, turn snapping on, and then simply nudge every other photo to approximately 1/2 the grid distance.

Great tip, thanks Diana
