Hi, this little girl was playing in the snow and got very tired.

I tried to fix the face. Removed the purple shadows but the eyes still look soooo tired.

Any ideas how to fix those big, tired eyes.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Great start so far. This (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showpost.php?p=259591&postcount=12) might be able to help you. I've also had some luck with liquify. She's darling! Good luck.

Hi there

I used levels ... brightness/contrast to brighten and Hue/saturation to brighten and adjust color.

To remove the shadow below the eyes I used a blank layer set to overlay, filled with 50 percent gray...then with a white low opacity brush I lightened the shadow... then a little healing brush for the last little blending.

I then applied noise reduction to take the color and luminosity noise.

Finally the background sky was too bright so I decided to add a new sky background.

Thank you Coco and Butch for your advise.
Well actually that is a double thank you to Butch, because Coco reforred me to a post from 5/07 by... Butch.
Thank you Coco for the referral and Butch for the tutorials. Beautiful as always.
I have saved them both for next time. Guidelines to keep me on track when I get confused.
Thanks!

I use one brush for all the following steps - Linda's Smudge brush :
1) use brush tool to whiten the whites of the eyes.
2) use smudge tool to soften the whites with the the eyes.
3) use the dodge tool to lighten the iris.
4) use the brush tool to add bits of color to iris.
5) use burn tool on the pupil, bits of iris and outside edge of iris.
6) use brush to add white highlight glint.

For the shadows under the eyes I add a blank layer, select color with eyedropper from cheek and paint on blank then lower opacity for a natural look.

I sure hope this all makes sense. Best of luck.

Hi Edalisse,
thank you for the instructions. I will try them out. I love how the baby's eyes turned out.
Beautiful!
Is Linda's smudge brush something you added into Elements?
It sure worked great
Thanks.

Yes, I got them from the Innographx forum. These brushes are phenomenal and the Sarsa hair brushes are pretty nifty too. You can pick up both at this link.

Hi Edalisse,
thanks for the link to the brushes. Got them.
The art stuff is a little out of my comfort zone. But I need to stretch and go further. So this will be one way to do this. I'm looking forward to giving this a try.
Your little boy is so cute. Enjoy! And you are making great memories.

The pictures are of my granddaughter. Didn't have photoshop when my kids were little. Sigh!!

I like your Smugmug portraits, very classy and polished. You can tell that you put a lot of work and thought into them. Great job.

Thanks again.

I took your "after" picture and used the liquify filter at 6px
and added at 2px white light to the eyes.
