Hi - please help me in my dippy moment here... I'm scanning in a texture for use in digital scrapbook designing so has to 300ppi finished res. The texture is dense so I only want a small area to be scanned - so, if I scan in a 3" chunk at 1200ppi will this be the equivalent of 12" of 300ppi (if I then resize)?
Tried it and it looked a bit pixly so wasn't sure...?!?
Thanks
Liz xx

Liz,
Go to www.scantips.com (http://www.scantips.com). There you can find out about dpi, ppi and the difference. Hope this helps.

Theoretically if you 4x the size it will /4 the ppi, but as you've seen these things can be touchy. Why not just scan in the piece you have @ 300dpi and then make a pattern out of it? Then you can use it to fill as much or as little space as you need.
