This latest manifestation started last week. When PSE3 starts up in Editor it almost looks as if the interface has changed colour, like someone's placed a greenish overlay over the top. Here's what I mean:

And for comparison here's a screenshot of an area from a tutorial:

See how that one looks grey as it's supposed to?
I'm totally confused. I've tried resetting preferences but it makes no difference still get that greenish cast.
Anybody any idea what's happened?

Hi Bayla ...
How do other software progams look .. its just that this looks more like a monitor issue to me rather than an Elements one ...

Wendy,
That's the strange thing. I'm only getting it with Elements!! As PSE starts to load there seems to be a greenish rectangle in the background that appears to load with it and then gives everything this greenish cast once it's loaded!

Have you added any new plug-ins recently? I wonder if one of them might be causing this.

I wanted to show more clearly what I mean. Couldn't take a screenshot so I photographed the screen instesad:

See the greenish rectangle behind the PSE start-up screen? That is NOT there normally, it appears as soon as PSE starts to load up!! And then seems to give the whole of Elements a ghostly green glow once it's opened! It's only happening with Elements and I haven't added anything to the computer apart from the odd font (or ten:D) - no plugins.
I'm really stumped on this one. (Mind you what a shame we can't devise a way of doing this to PSE6 and making the dark grey lighter!!)

EDIT: Just tried opening up PSE first of all the Welcome page and then the Organiser - no ghostly green, only with Editor!

I'm stumped too, Bayla. That's weird.
But while we're on the subject of weirdness, do you mind if I throw in another one? Do any of you who have multiple versions of Elements have this happen?
I have 5 & 3 installed. If I turn on the "Automatically get picts from a camera/card" option in the Organizer prefs for Version 5, I get this window:

If I turn it off, the V.3 downloader opens and runs, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THAT OPTION TURNED OFF IN VERSION 3 AS WELL!!!! It's strange...

A question - maybe dumb but I have to ask - what is that handwritten document showing up behind the green cast? Is that something you opened to make it show up or does that also appear? It is really an odd thing. I know you said you haven't installed any actions, how about brushes, styles, or filters? Just trying to pinpoint where the trouble lies.

Nancy,
You can see the edges of my current desktop picture behind:

Haven't installed any styles or filters and I've been opening new brushes as I've needed them rather than doing a permanent install.

What a cool desktop! Well - that really is baffling. I can't come up with anything else so maybe a last resort is to uninstall and reinstall but that is so drastic. I wonder if poking around at Adobe's site will yield any results.
